Carinus, son of Emperor Carus, ruled the western part of the Roman Empire during a time of internal conflict. Though ancient sources portray him negatively, his coinage is well-executed and often depicts themes like Virtus, Victory, and Liberalitas. He was defeated by Diocletian at the Battle of the Margus River, ending the short-lived dynasty founded by his father.
